Recent Spambot Influx - REGISTRATION OPENED AGAIN KINDA

Just thought I'd drop in to say that cracking down on spambots provides an excellent opportunity to get rid of centralservices once and for all.

Could we have a confirmation email system? I would imagine that would be fairly tight, or maybe a question it would be hard for a computer to answer, such as 'spell [word] backwards, if anyone wanted to crack it electronically, they'd have to write a program specifically for this site, it probably wouldn't be worth it.

Hopefully this will work, right? Why do spambots even get on here? How in the world did they find a random site and why do they post on it?

Oh yeah! I saw Bing [bot]. I was kinda curious why i couldn't click on it's name.... it freaked me out cuz i wanted to see how many stuff its posted or if it was a spambot and what not. But how come i couldn't click on it? Weirdness lol....

Those aren't anything like spambots. The [Bot]s that appear in the "Who is online" section visit the site to update our site index in search engines or whatever. Take for example a Google[Bot]. It will often browse our site and update search caches for Google search. I think Midna is an MSN bot now. And it seems Yitik has closed registration for now, so we shouldn't be seeing any spambots.

oh yes, i heard that. I thought so cuz i knew bing was a search engine, so i thought like maybe it was a bing robot or something lol XD yup i'm kinda clueless

You guys must think I'm stupid. Of course we have CAPTCHA - we always have, and it's updated to its latest version. I've messed with the settings. And of course we have email activation. Really now, come on.

What happens is that people are paid (very small amounts) to get these bots through security measures, a lot of the time. There's no way to stop them but to block them out completely for a while and move along.

Also, centralservices has been banned and his account deactivated. Damn Russian.
