Ok, as the possibility of including another CD with Midna inspired pieces becomes all the more probable, i'll be keeping any piece that was composed for WMB in this thread as an initiative, that includes both CD projects. Remember to check out Zoku and CS' threads too. ;)

UPDATE: I recently finished work on the final original piece for the album: Dreaming Of Twilight. This completes the solo work that I will be doing, from now on in i'll be concentrating on Imp's Overture and the potential remix of Zora's domain along with Zoku and CS.

Dude I just realized that it could have amazing drums when it gets heavier. Lets see what I can do with a midi keyboard. :)

Yeah, I gave that a try when I was first working on it. However, as I started to develop the beginning and end (I usually begin work with the melody/chorus of a piece :D) I found it didn't seem to fit into the overall style I was aiming for.

As the majority of other projects I worked on involved electro/new age stuff with heavy drum patterns I decided to approach this piece from a completely different angle.

Thanks for the comment, I look forward to hearing what other people come up with ;)

Oh wow. Excellent work with that, Flib. I'm wondering what it would sound like with a "monk" theme added in the background. (Martin O'Donnell used the "monk" style in the music for the Halo series, and it fit pretty well.)

(Note: That's not a request. I'd end up doing a recording of it myself.)

Edit 2: Nevermind, I think I heard it the second time 'round.

Thanks Spartan ;) I happen to be a big fan of the halo soundtracks, sometimes even more so than the game itself :D I loved the combination of ambient electronica, deep soundscapes and Gregorian chanting in Combat Evolved, I seem to recall the track "Under Cover of Night" as being a good example of this, you can even hear some native american chanting in the background. It's a shame they pulled back slightly on this theme for halo 2, where it became a kind of rock opera/electronica space hybrid. Haven't played Halo 3 yet, so I can't comment on what the music's like.

Yeah, I'd have to say Halo 2 was disappointing in that field. Halo 3 brings it back, though, to be sure. And it's interesting that four jingle singers from Chicago could do the Gregorian style so well. (In my own opinion, the Halo 3 soundtrack is worth the pickup.)

I'll be sure to check it out, thanks for the recommendation ;)

I'm also a big fan of the Silent Hill 2, Super Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess soundtrack (my top three anyway)

Ahh. Never played Silent Hill that much, and the other two were great soundtracks.

And as far as Halo 3s music goes, it brings back a large amount of compositions from the past two games and redoes them with a full orchestra and choir. It also goes more to the martial side, (I believe that means snare drums and the like.) and to the best of my knowledge, does away with the guitars. (Although, there's one that I think could be guitar, but I have no idea.)

And, with your permission, I'd like to actually attempt to record a Gregorian theme into the background of this, just to see how it turns out.

Here's a quick update, when I first started working on the piece I was also working in tandem on two other mixes: Queen Rutela's Theme and The Sacred Grove, unfortunately I felt that both projects weren't up to the standards I set myself so I scrapped and aborted, focusing entirely on MDH instead.

I may return to these someday, but for now i'm concentrating mainly on uni work. I've linked to the WiP versions of each mix below along with reasons why it was scrapped.

Rutela's Theme - ftp://trioptimum-diago.serveftp.net/Mus ... 0Water.mp3

ATM this piece doesn't actually go anywhere and doesn't really have a clear, well defined structure. The piano part is just a placeholder for the moment.

Sacred Grove - ftp://trioptimum-diago.serveftp.net/Mus ... 0Grove.mp3

Simply put, it's basically a carbon copy of the original, not in any way a remix. I need to completely overhaul the structure if it's going to go anywhere.

Dude, the Rutela one is actually pretty good. I found a good structure in there that you really could build off of.
