As many of you may be aware, Want Midna Back has its very own Internet Relay Chat channel on irc.dynastynet.net called #wmb. Because of this, a lot of newer or future members head there for a taste of what we might be like. Not surprising; it's the easiest venture into doing so without having to join the actual forum.
The chat, however, is an entirely different thing from the forum. It holds a different air, different rules and even a different community at times. Because of that, I believe it deserves some rules and guidelines for itself. Regulars won't notice too big a change; we're usually pretty good at keeping some pseudo-rules up anyway. Usually.

RULES
On: Swearing. You Sometimes Can. But try to keep it to a realistic minimum. That is, once every so often in great expression of feeling. Large amounts of casual swearing in succession and RAGING YOUR *** OFF, even if you pseudo-censor, is not allowed. Because one of our regular chatters already has a censor, but he'll probably get the gist of what you're talking about. So will we, and we'll probably just think it's sad that you're hiding your words in asterisks or pound signs or whatever you used to cover it up.
On: Speaking Different Languages. You Usually Can't. I know we're all tempted to speak some other language time and again, especially if we just discovered the translator or have a second or third or seventeenth language at our disposal. But #wmb is a very primarily English speaking channel and should be treated as such. The exception is when more than one person "speaks your language", so to speak. If you and another can converse in a language that isn't English, go right ahead. But if a majority vote of the users currently in chat tell you to stop, stop.
On: Abusing the Bot. You're Not Allowed. So don't do it. Do not use certain scripts more than is commonly necessary, don't make her explode, and try not to make her feel bad by spouting profanities at her. That would be rude.
On: Flooding. You're Not Allowed. What's flooding? It's when you send a bunch of messages to the chat in rapid succession. Usually the channel will kick you if you post 5 times within 10 seconds. If not, you're probably safe.
On: Trolling, Flaming. You're Not Allowed. So, say someone's been having a bad day. You try to cheer them up by being a total asshat to them and calling them names and telling them to die and get off of the internet before your face melts off. Don't do that. That'd be trolling. Basically, don't be a dick to everyone (or a lot to one person) and you'll be alright.

POWER HIERARCHY
Administrators - +q - These folks are the top dogs at chat. They are unable to be attacked by anything except each other or, in some cases, themselves. Countering this, they can hit any and everyone. Hard. Chanserv sets this godly mode to Yitik and DaK only. No Exceptions.
Protected Users - +a - The people chat protects. They have no real power unless otherwise specified by a different mode. These people are safe from everyone but Administrators. Chanserv sets this mode currently to centralservices and MidnaBot, often in connection with setting +o.
Operators - +o - These guys are your equivalent of a Global moderator here. They can kick, ban, and do most other commands for changing up the chat as they see fit. Administrators can dispatch of them, along with other operators. Chanserv sets this mode to Yitik, DaKing9/DaK, centralservices and MidnaBot.
Half-Operators - +h - It's like an operator, but a lot weaker. They lack some abilities like actually doing stuff that isn't kicking or banning people by nickname. Chanserv gives this delightful status to Midna's Hero, called MH or Shotaku in chat. Legendboy also gets it, because he's cool like that. I think Rikimaru also got it at one point and, if he still does, he doesn't lose any awesome points.
Voiced Users - +v - Regular people, aside from one thing. They can talk when the channel mode is +m (mute). MidnaBot sets this mode to any and everybody upon joining the channel, assuming she's there.
COMMANDS Spoiler HTML code
NICK COMMANDS
NICK COMMANDS: /nick <namehere> - Change your nickname in the chat. Replace "<namehere>" with the name you want.
/ns register <password> <email> - Register the nickname you are currently using. This sets a password to that nickname, disallowing other people to use it. Replace <password> with the password you want and <email> with the email you want.
/ns identify <password> - identify yourself when using a registered nick. Replace <password> with the password set to this nickname.
/ns set kill <on/quick> - Set a "kill" protect to your registered nickname. Putting it "On" will force you to identify yourself within 60 seconds. Setting it to "Quick" will force you to identify yourself within 20 seconds. If you do not identify yourself in the allotted time, dynastynet will lock the name for 60 seconds and change your nick to dyn_user######.
/ns recover <namehere> <password> - This is the kill mesage for your registered nickname. It will make someone who is using your name automatically into a dyn_user###### and lock the name for 60 seconds before someone else can use it.
/ns release <namehere> <password> - Releases your nickname from a kill/recover early (upon sending this message). Convenient for when you want to be yourself immediately.

CHANNEL COMMANDS
Note: Most channel modes can only be set or removed by operators or administrators.
CHANNEL COMMANDS: /topic #<channel> <topic> - This changes the topic for the selected channel. Replace <channel> with whatever channel you're on (usually wmb) and <topic> with what you want the topic to be.
/mode #<channel> <mode> - Set modes to the channel. Usually wmb. You can replace <mode> with things like: +m - Mutes the channel. Only users with +v or +o set to them can talk.
/mode #<channel> <mode> <nick> - Set modes to specific users on the channel, which is usually wmb. Replace <nick> with whoever you're setting the mode to. You can replace <mode> with many things: +v - Gives the specified user status with voice. Allows them to speak in mode +m. +h - Gives the user half-operator status. +o - Gives the user operator status. +a - Gives the user protected status (called "Admin" in Mibbit chat). +q - Gives the user administrator status (called "Owner" in Mibbit chat). +b - Bans the user from the channel.
For more information on channel modes and what they do, check out this handy table of channel modes that are usually transferrable to dynastynet.net's servers.

I would like to add something.
In some cases where there are no OP's, like last weekend, to voice anyone in the chat, go to #wmbuno. It is moderated by both me and Rikimaru. It is always -m so neither I nor Riki have to be there to give you voice. To go there, type /join #wmbuno.

I totally forgot that I might have to mention this. Blame it on a twelve year old and a thirteen year old who enjoy watching men pull guns out of their vaginas. ----------- New Rule
On: Anatomically Profane Material You're absolutely not allowed. Innuendos are fine. Mentions here and again of genitalia are a-okay. Anything directly pornographic or obscene in nature, however, is strictly disallowed. Keep up the talk and only use of the Anatomically Correct terminology for the male and female reproductive systems will be allowed, and only in the case of talking about what they do.
There will be no imagery of penises, vaginas, testicles or breasts through ASCII style text drawings. (I.E.- 8====D ; (.Y.).)
There will be no sharing of Pornographic or Erotic images, photographs or otherwise within the actual chat. One may only share them amongst other chatters when consent has been given from the person receiving the message. These transactions may only be done through private query and should be kept on the down-low from other members.

At the request of Midna's Hero:
NEW RULE
On: Text/Message-Based User Scripts It's a Double-Edged Sword.
Side A: The Writer and User of the script's duty-
Your script should not be able to be easily abused by all members.
Your script should be at least a little relevant. This means join messages are allowed, among other things that will be determined by the current users in chat.
Your script must follow all of the other rules of the chat. I suggest putting a flood limit additive into the script. Ask Yitik how in mIRC.
Do not post script code in chat if it is longer than three lines.
Do not write racist or politically incorrect scripts.
Side B: The Other Users' Duty-
If a script is able to be abused, don't abuse it. Tell the writer it's insufficient and that they must write a new one or get off of the internet.
Do not abuse scripts to an extent that is considered spam or flooding.
Report all socially, politically or racially abusive scripts.
Side Rikimaru: Rikimaru's Duty-
Delete all of your scripts.
Even that one, yeah.
Side Yitik: Yitik's Privilege-
No Script Rules Apply, because you'll find a way around them anyway.

This was brought to my attention in chat last night, a few people thought it would be funny to spam MB's youtube script, not saying who for the sake of their reputation.
MidnaBot's Scripts are there for a reason, to make life in the chat easier, if we just spam the scripts with random crap that you could easily find yourself and share, or if you're just searching for random stuff like "wut", it spams up the logs, which isn't wanted. From now on if you youtube random stuff that isn't something you absolutely want #wmb to see (meaning a song you want to share or this funny video [and I don't mean internet meme funny] that you found on youtube.) more than 3 times it'll result in a kick and if it's spammed more than that we may kick ban you for 15 or so minutes due to excessive spamming
Also, on the note of posting links to pics, be considerate, I'm guilty of this but if it's something that will offend a multitude of people i.e. racial stereotypes, lolling at suicide, or something else of that nature, just put it aside and lol at it yourself. What you find funny may be insulting if someone asks you to stop posting those pics, stop.
Finally there are some people who are on shitty computers and shitty internet connections, we all know who, so when LB and until DaK gets a better computer, don't post picture link after picture link after picture link. Their computers will asplode and it'll take them up to 15 minutes to get back on chat. We don't want that happening so while they're there if you're sharing pics, do it at a slower pace.
If anything else is brought to my attention I'll post it here as well.
Edit: We've gone over this before guys I don't know why I have to go over it again. Besides the fact that this has been called to my attention
Scripts:
1. Only make useful scripts, it's why MB has them, she has a few for fun but most of them are there for a cause. Just because you got mIRC recently doesn't mean you have to throw in useless scripts. Most if not all of Riki's are fine, but his voicing script we'd prefer if he just set it to him voicing them not announcing their arrival. 2. Don't mimic the bot, if MB, has the script already, you don't need it, exceptions for this are voicing. Sometimes the channel ops want the channel moderated, but if MB isn't around they don't get voice unless a mod voices them. Everything else is just annoying. 3. If the script gets annoying and one of the hierarchy of the channel asks you to turn it off, don't argue, just do it. If you really want the script in there ask Yitik, DaK, me, or Riki how to make it acceptable for the chat. 4. Don't use Auto-Respond scripts, first: these are annoying and second: people can easily spam you out of the chat. Just because MB has Auto-Respond doesn't mean that it's cool for you to do it. In fact, it isn't, it's just annoying.
New rule as of November 19th, 2009:
As per the subliminal request of UNRiDDLED:
A specific user on chat has discovered a now playing script by the name of AMIP however, before you go download it and a splode the chatz with ur muzix, we need to set up some rules. It's perfectly okay to have this script. But you must use it in moderation. AMIP has an automatic notice option. This is a no-no, it spams up the chat and people get annoyed with you and one of the mods will end up constantly kicking you, or if they are having a bad day a time-out kickban may be in store for you.

Been 5 months since update and some new rules will be in effect after this post.
First off we have changes to the hierarchy that weren't included months past. +q (Admins) MidnaBot has been added. No explaination necessary because she is a bot. And the only bot we'll allow. +h (half-op) Shotaku remains h-op and new people have been added as well, Emkay and Legendboy, whenever Sho is doing his own stuff and you misbehave they will have jurisdiction over your actions provided Yitik isn't available.
Second we have some more script problems.
ABSOLUTELY NO TRIGGER-KICK. The only ones permitted to have these are +q. Something tells me that two people are immune to this rule, one being a bot. Spam scripts are not funny. If by chance you do make a spammable script and it is reasonable to keep it. (i.e. Rikimaru's proverbs and bash.org) put a timer on it so we won't abuse it, we don't want you to be kicked because you were entertaining the chat Aliases are fine as long as they are for channel modes, moderation, rejoining or anything of the nature.

Alright, this is what should go down in the chatroom. Kcired, Shotaku, RiderlessWolf, and myself, were talking about this. The chatroom is a mess and needs to be fixed. So:
Keep swearing to a limit. No mod-power abuse. Abide to the rules, and listen to the chat Ops and Half-ops. All of them. Sexual innuendo isn't the only topic in the world. Keep that down to a minimum Spelling isn't perfect, no, but try to do your best. It's easier if people can read your text nice and easy. If flaming/arguing goes on, about anything, both of them will be kicked. If it happens again, a temp-ban is in order. If two half-ops fight, they should know full well to stop. Myself as well. If you need to take something out on someone with your anger/frustration, or if you need to vent to somebody, do it outside of chat. That's what your friend's are for. You have DaKing9, Yitik, centralservices, Shotaku, Legendboy, and Emkay as your chat moderators. Treat them with respect, like you should with every other chat member in there.
Take your heart, and use it well, and treat people who they're meant to. No more fighting, am I clear? This goes for everybody. No more 'Yiff mode', or beating down on Aquarius, nor anyone else for that matter. Hopefully you can agree with me on this, no matter how much you may hate me.
