The Girl With the Silent Aura

Anberlin or Rin, as she preferred, hurried through the underbrush of the forest, barely making a sound on the leaves that had fallen from the trees last winter and still coated the ground. Her loaded bow pointed to the ground. Her quiver of arrows hit her back as she moved, but it, as well as the sword buckled around her waist and her feet covered in black leather boots, made no sound. She was too experienced to be so careless. She knew exactly how to move, so that no one heard her.

Her victim was directly in front of her, trying to hunt down a doe that he had been following for the past hour and a half. He wasn't quiet at all and every time he shot, he missed and the doe, seeing or hearing either him or the arrow, would dart off again while he swore loudly. She didn't particularly know why she had let him go on this long without killing him or why she was even completing the job she had been assigned in the first place. Maybe she felt bad for him, since he couldn't kill this animal. Maybe she knew in her heart that killing a man because he accidentally killed someone else wasn't right no matter how you looked at it.

She licked her lips and glanced over her shoulder to see where she was going as she took a step backwards, deciding that she really wasn't committed to this job at all and she wasn't going to finish it or even go back to the city tonight even if she did to collect her rupees. She was sure that eventually all these unfinished jobs - like her broken past and forgotten memories - were going to catch up with her someday, but right now she wasn't going to worry about that. She was going to sneak into the city late at night, steal a horse and ride off into the night, not, like always, knowing where she was going. Just knowing she was getting away.

She was just edging around the trunk of a large oak tree when she heard a twig crack. The sound didn't come from the blundering man in front of her, but from behind her. She froze. Images came unbidden to her mind, all of her father beating her, burning her...raping her...

She closed her eyes tightly, which was a stupid idea, since this didn't help in the slightest. She glanced over her shoulder and saw nothing, but green underbrush: low hanging branches, tree trunks, bushes, and shrubs. That could only mean one thing.

Another hunter - perhaps not as experienced as she - was in the forest with her.
I thought you said forever over and over...

(OOC: This sounds like a really interesting scenario, but could you maybe state some rules as to what kind of characters can join, time period, etc.? Just might make it easier for some to follow along, or decide if they want to join.)

OOC: o.o good idea.
Kind of characters to join: characters either...
a) akin (like) Rin
b) good with weapons
c) good hunters
d) someone she could be friends with
e) someone who could be understanding of her

time period: none really just in the middle of everything.

Really anyone can join, but I'd prefer people with characters like those above would join. :3

[OOC: I think I'll join too, but I'll make a new character first.]

i
Wiggle wiggle wiggle go the tongues of the organs
Licking the face of the man they call old
His hands have seen many an organ.
And his face many a tongue.
I need a rhyme to finish this off.
Or I could be edgy, not rhyme and be bold.

(OOC: Actually, scratch that David joining idea. I've got another character up that I think would be more appropriate.)

The cool breeze passing through the forest almost blew the small Deku over. It was a powerful wind, but it was nice. Metty inhaled deeply from his tree branch perch high up in the air. What a pleasant smell, spring has. I'm so glad winter is over. He happily thought. He swung his legs back and forth in delight and starting to hum a merry tune. He was still searching the land, going as far as his body would take him. He wanted to see everything, DO everything. He wanted to feel the gentle waves on the beaches of the Great Bay, wanted to meet the villagers of Kakariko, wanted to race the Gorons of Death Mountain (though he knew he couldn't beat their rolling technique, but it still seemed like fun him to try and become acquainted with them). Most of all, Metty wanted to discover more about himself. There were still things that puzzled him. Still feelings that made him shiver in delight, though were still unknown to him. Exploring the land felt right to him. With every discovery he made along his journey, he had discovered something about himself.

High in the air, Metty only saw the green of the treetops when he looked down. All of a sudden, his little wooden stomach let out a small growl. He bent forward a little in pain and wrapped his little arms around himself. When the pain passed, he sat up again. Uuugh....that was terrible. It hasn't been THAT long since I ate last, has it?

And so he decided that he needed to eat. A few seconds later, Metty felt another strong breeze pushing against him. But this time, he let himself be pushed, and he slipped off of the high perch. Almost immediately, Metty tipped into a nosedive and sped towards the ground. He reached to his chest, grabbed the shoulder strap of his leaf glider, pulled it forward a little bit, and held fast. The glider caught the wind under it, and Metty pulled down harder on it. His angle increased dramatically, and soon, Metty rode the fresh breeze over the green forest. He felt alive when he flew through the air. He felt as if there was a foreign force guiding him along the wind, and this is where he felt truly at home. He enjoyed every second of his flight.

Not too much time passed, and Metty slowly descended back into the woods. He didn't know where it ended, as it stretched for a vast distance, but it was alright with him. He could run the rest of the way if he needed to. His forward speed slowed down significantly, and he descended closer to the treetops. As he reached the thick branches of the forest ceiling, he saw a good branch he liked almost forty yards from him. He swiftly pushed the strap of the leaf back over his shoulder, tilted his body back into a vertical position, and prepared to grab the branch. He realized then, however, that he had miscalculated how high he was compared to the branch. He wasn't going to grab it above his head with his hands, he was going to take that branch to the gut. Sudden impulse told Metty to stick his arms out to dampen the force, but it was too late. Metty smacked into that thick branch at high speed, and he curled around it on impact. He had hit it right where he had feared, across his wooden belly.

The breath was forced out of him, and he felt pain like nothing he had experienced in quite a while as he started to slip from the branch. Barely conscious, Metty tried to tell his body to grip the branch, but he had concentrated too much on the pain. Gravity took over, and he fell towards the green forest floor. He struck multiple branches on the way down, not making much more of a sound then a dry thud. About ten feet from the bottom of the bush, a large canopy of leaves growing off of a branch was in a near perfect position, and almost seemed to have been placed in Metty's way on purpose. He hit the canopy, which took the drop force like a spring, slowing him down a good deal. It bent down until it almost touched the ground, but flicked Metty's limp body into a wild barrel roll upon release.

Half a second later, he hit the leaf-ridden forest floor, and landed on top of a small branch. It snapped loudly underneath him, like his own body would have snapped if he had weighed any more than he did. The sound echoed for a short distance.
